Emergency & Storm Damage

Who do I call for an emergency roof leak in San Francisco, and what happens next?

Call (415) 410-7917; Alpha Eagle's emergency line is answered 24/7. We first stop the water with a properly fastened tarp or temporary repair, photograph the damage for your insurance claim, and return for the permanent repair once the roof is dry, pulling a permit when the permanent work needs one.

If water is coming through your ceiling right now, call (415) 410-7917. The emergency line is answered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. While you wait, see what to do while the roof is leaking: contain the water, protect electronics and valuables, and stay off a wet roof.

What happens when we arrive?

  1. Stop the water. A properly fastened tarp or a temporary repair over the leak area. This is not the permanent fix, and it is not meant to be.
  2. Document the damage. We photograph the roof and the cause of the leak in CompanyCam, which supports your insurance claim.
  3. Permanent repair when the roof is dry. Sealants and membranes need a dry surface, so the real repair waits for a weather window. If the permanent work needs a permit, we pull it.

Where do San Francisco roofs usually leak in a storm?

  • Parapet caps and the base of parapet walls on flat roofs.
  • The joint where the roof meets a neighbor’s wall on attached buildings.
  • Skylights and lightwells.
  • Clogged scuppers and drains that let water pond and back up under the membrane.
  • Lifted shingles and failed flashing on pitched roofs during wind-driven rain.

Will insurance pay for it?

It depends on the cause and your policy. Sudden storm damage is treated differently from long-term wear. See does homeowners insurance cover roof replacement and our insurance claims page. The {ext(CDI_CAT, ‘California Department of Insurance’)} has consumer help for disaster and storm claims.
