The basic shingle warranty (the one you get from any contractor) only covers manufacturing defects in the shingle itself. The bigger programs are what serious roofers offer and what we recommend on most full replacements:
- GAF Golden Pledge (50-year coverage, fully transferable): covers the entire GAF Lifetime Roofing System — Timberline shingles, GAF underlayment, GAF starter strip, GAF ridge cap, and Cobra ventilation. Includes 25 years on our workmanship — meaning if our installation fails inside that window, GAF itself sends out a repair crew at no charge to you. Only GAF Master Elite contractors can issue Golden Pledge. We are in the Master Elite certification process.
- GAF System Plus (50 years on materials, 10 years on installation): the entry-level extended warranty, available to GAF Certified contractors. Most of our shingle re-roofs are eligible at no extra cost.
- CertainTeed Integrity Roof System Warranty: 5-year SureStart (full replacement cost on defects, transferable), with extensions to Sterling, Silver Pledge, and Gold Star Warranty (50 years materials + workmanship) available through CertainTeed SELECT ShingleMaster contractors.
- Owens Corning Preferred Protection Roofing System: 50-year materials + 10-year workmanship; available through OC Preferred Contractors.
Practical guidance: register for the manufacturer warranty within 60 days of completion — we handle this for you and email you the registration confirmation. Unregistered warranties drop to a much shorter standard period in most cases.
One thing to know: extended manufacturer warranties usually require a complete system install (manufacturer’s own underlayment, starter strip, ridge cap, and balanced ventilation). We line-item the system components on every estimate so you can see exactly what’s included.
