What are the manufacturer warranty programs — Golden Pledge, System Plus, and SureStart?

The basic shingle warranty covers manufacturing defects in the shingle itself, with a short non-prorated period. Extended system warranties are only available through manufacturer-certified installers:

• GAF System Plus Limited Warranty: available through GAF Certified, Certified Plus and Master Elite contractors. Alpha Eagle Roofing is a GAF Certified contractor, so we can register it. With GAF Lifetime shingles and at least three qualifying GAF accessories, it extends the non-prorated period from 10 to 50 years for manufacturing defects, covering replacement materials plus the reasonable cost to install them, tear-off and disposal when needed, and one free transfer to the next homeowner (GAF brochure). The 50-year term applies to single-family detached homes owned by individuals; other properties get 40 years with 20 non-prorated. It does not cover contractor workmanship.
• GAF Silver Pledge and Golden Pledge: higher GAF tiers that add coverage for installation errors; Golden Pledge can only be issued by GAF Master Elite contractors.
• CertainTeed SureStart PLUS: only CertainTeed-credentialed contractors can offer it. Alpha Eagle Roofing is a CertainTeed ShingleMaster credentialed company, so we can offer 3-Star coverage, which CertainTeed describes as up to 50 years non-prorated materials and labor for manufacturing defects on a single-family home, plus tear-off and disposal. Workmanship coverage starts at the 4-Star tier.
• Owens Corning runs a similar tiered program through its own certified-contractor network.

Practical guidance: extended warranties must be registered with the manufacturer after completion and usually require a complete system install (the manufacturer’s own underlayment, starter strip, ridge cap and ventilation). We handle registration and line-item the system components on every estimate.
